Champion Jockey AP McCoy Sells His £2.5million Home.
The house is ideally located as it is only two miles from the M4 and is an hour from Heathrow airport. McCoy bought the house in 2006 after selling their Wantage country house for 1.3million. Lodge Down House looks like a new build house but was actually built in the 1950s, it was a b&b before the McCoys bought is. They extended the land and replaced all of the windows and gutting the place costing around 400,000.
On the land that they are not selling they have submitted a planning application to knock down farm buildings and build a 10,000sq ft house which will also have 60 stables for jockey. The couple see this venture as an investment towards when AP has to give up racing and has got many people speculating when this might be. The planning permission would have an equestrian tie to it like many other applications around Lambourn which would restrict the permission to training use and breeding racehorses. It is thought that a large house with an equestrian tie will sell for 30% less on the open market than one without. The McCoys are remaining discreet about their plans for now in regards to the new site so only time will tell.
